This is a partially restored photo,
circa 1930 of Patrick T. Connolly’s father & husband of Mary Morgan
Connolly. He was the nephew of Patrick Connolly & Mary Grant. His current descendants, The Turleys,
Gallaghers, & McCarthys, still own most of the family farmlands.
Patrick T. Connolly
(1902-1982)
This photo may also be from the
1930s-1940s. This is Patrick T. Connolly, one of the correspondents of Mary
Higgins in the early 1940s. He never
married but was very involved in politics, especially the Anti-Partition of
Ireland League. The child in the photo is unknown.

Connolly & Mary Grant Connolly’s Gravestone
A photo of the gravestone in
Sheeptown Cemetery, Benagh, Co. Down.
The inscription reads: “Erected by Teresa Connelly of Benagh in memory
of her father Patrick Connelly, died 24th Oct 1903, aged 80 years,
also her mother Mary Connelly, died 20th Sep 1904, aged 79 years.
Also her sister, Margaret Connelly, died 9th March 1921, aged 48
years, and her sister Elizabeth Connelly, died 5th March 1939, aged
71 years.”
Thomas
Connolly Family Gravestone
A more modern and simple gravestone,
also in Sheeptown Cemetery. This belongs to the descendants of Patrick’s
brother Thomas. It simply reads: “Connolly, Benagh, R.I.P.”
Patrick
Connolly & Mary Grant Connolly’s Farmhouse
A look at the remains of Patrick and
Mary’s farmhouse. As mentioned, the surrounding lands are still owned by
Connolly descendants.

Patrick Connolly’s House
A beautiful view of what Patrick
Connolly and Mary Grant would have seen when they stepped out of their home. I’m
told the view has changed very little from their time except for the few tall
buildings in the distance.
This stands in the adjacent farmland
and was home to Patrick’s brother, Thomas, and his family.
Hugh Connolly was Patrick, Thomas,
& James’ uncle. This was his home. The land on which it stands is much and
smaller in size than Thomas’ & Patrick’s farms.

descendants of Thomas Connolly. The family now owns the combined lands of Patrick,Thomas,
and Hugh. L-R: Theresa McCarthy (Ann McCarthy’s daughter), Mary Theresa Turley,
Brian Turley, Ann McCarthy, Sylvia McCarthy (Ann McCarthy’s daughter). Ann
McCarthy and Mary Theresa Turley are sisters, both daughters of Mary Josephine
Connolly & Thomas Gallagher.
